Nourishing

The B-O-N-D…Nourishing

“Why are we here?  We exist not to pursue happiness, which is fleeting, or outer accomplishment, which can always be bettered.  We are here to nourish the self.” -Deepak Chopra

Excerpt from the book:

The motherbaby bond is cultivated early in your pregnancy as you nourish your mind, body, and spirit. Your intentions, actions, and who and how you love play a vital role in your baby’s development in the second trimester. Your baby’s sensory organs begin to develop, along with her awareness of the world that lies outside the womb. During the second trimester, everything you experience in your world will form what your baby knows of the world. Your baby shares the flavors of food you taste, the sound of the music you listen to, and the feelings of love you have for her and others in your life. This early relationship between you and your child will be the first guiding map for your baby to navigate her emotional world.

When you choose a nourishing environment for yourself, it also enriches your baby’s world. Even at this early stage, your baby is conscious and responding to love, or a lack thereof. The second trimester is often when you begin to feel not only an emotional connection but a physical connection to your baby; these first movements you feel in the womb are sometimes called quickening. Your baby begins to respond to sounds, movement, voices, and your emotions by crying, smiling, and thumb sucking. Your baby already has a profound emotional life well before she is born. The miracle of the mother-baby bond unfolds and deepens during the second trimester, as your heart, mind, and body constantly communicate with your baby.
