Excerpt from the book:

The third trimester is a time when you naturally move from imagination into reality. All of the dreams you have had are about to manifest into your new family. This is the time to make some concrete decisions about where you want to have your baby, what you want your labor and birth to be like, and how you want to practice early parenting in the first months of being a new mom. It is normal to feel consumed by thoughts about preparing for your baby’s arrival.

Nesting is a primal instinct that most mothers experience as they prepare to welcome their babies. In the third trimester, you to begin to withdraw from the business of the external world and start to prepare your nest. The decisions you make now can lay a strong foundation for a gentler, calmer postpartum experience for you and your baby. As you make plans to welcome your newborn, your baby is getting ready for her exciting journey into a new world. Your baby begins establishing memory, experiencing rapid brain growth, and learning at astounding rates to help her transition to a new life in your arms. Your baby is highly tuned in to your world.  Your baby begins to determine if the world is a place of security or one of danger by reacting to stimuli from the world outside. Your attention to your baby’s needs prepare her to greet her new world with trust, calmness, and a sense of security.
